Poor Things/Lanark.

Work in progress.

A set of illustrations for the Alasdair Gray Archive exploring Gray's work through an Autistic lens.

The Poor Things cigarette cards are based on the idea of the book being filmed by RKO/Universal in the 30s with a cast including Charles Laughton as Goodwin Baxter, Colin Clive as Archibald McCandless and Kathleen Burke as Bella (it's the same fictional film universe where I imagine Orson Welles making a Batman film in 1973 starring John Cassavetes as Bruce Wayne and Malcolm McDowell fresh off A Clockwork Orange as The Joker, it's a hobby I guess).

Poor Things (Inspired by Bride of Frankenstein) with a Letraset and Tippex title card.

Whereas the Lanark illustrations are a take on the original art for Book III and it's inspiration.

Autism Plays Itself.

Not long after seeing the first cut of AUTISM PLAYS ITSELF I started on a series of illustrations for myself basically to help me process the whole project (I'm a visuals kinda guy what can I say?).

Recently I've had a chance to revisit/rejig/re-imagine them for the 17th edition of Archivio Aperto (this years theme is The Art of Memory) taking place from October 24 to 27, 2024 in Bologna, Italy.

The Lives of Children and Adolescents with Disabilities.

A great way to round off the year, just found out that the latest book I did the illustrations for - The Lives of Children and Adolescents with Disabilities (edited By Angharad E. Beckett, Anne-Marie Callus) - is published on January 4th 2024 so here's a sneak peek alongside artwork for Dr Miro Griffiths' research project into young disabled people's experience of Assistive Technology - companion pieces of sorts to the work for the Routledge International Handbook of Children's Rights & Disability.

Cover, full art and page examples.

The 47.

On 1st November, 47 pairs of shoes were placed on the Glasgow Concert Hall steps: one for each person who died street homeless in the city last year.

After the installations I did alongside Glasgow museums regarding homelessness previously (here and here) I felt that I couldn't let this pass without producing something to remember them by.

No reason other than I wanted to.

And you can read about the (Invisible) Glasgow project here.
